Traditional Beekeeping In Japan

Japanese BeekeepingThis is a set of videos about  traditional beekeeping in Japan.  There are 4 videos in the series that show the process of harvesting honey from a Japanese style hive.  You will notice that the hive is slightly smaller than hives most of us are used to.  This is because the Japanese Honeybee (Apis cerana) is smaller, and prefers smaller cavities compared to their western cousins (apis mellifera).

Every time I watch these videos I get the urge to set up a hive similar to this.  I would make it a little bigger maybe something close to Warre Dimensions.  If I get around to doing it, I will definitely take you guys on the adventure with me.
